Welcome to the Burnt Out To Lit Up podcast, we’re thrilled you’re here! BOLU is all about holistic wellness specifically for healthcare providers. We’re a married occupational / physical therapist team, and if there’s one thing that gets us lit up, it’s this podcast.
We get it. We’ve been down the burnout road before. We’ve had that chicken-without-a-head feeling. From panic attacks, to toxic work environments, we know your job in healthcare demands 1000% of your physical, mental, and emotional energy, both inside and outside of work.
Our mission at BOLU (rolls off the tongue doesn’t it?) is all about improving the lives and well-being of healthcare providers around the world by preventing burnout and promoting a lit up life. The healthcare industry ranks #1 in skilled worker turnover, among the lowest in skilled employee satisfaction and fulfillment, and billions of dollars are lost every year to institutional inefficiencies and burnout related problems. Too many HCPs get home after a long day and put their own personal well-being aside, either from physical exhaustion or just mental drainage. Too many feel cynical and fed up with policies and procedures in their workplace that neither improve patient outcomes nor employee sanity. Too often HCPs consider career changes even after years of hard work in school and tens of thousands of dollars in debt. We hope to help these people through our message, and we believe that podcasts, one of the top growing media outlets, is the way to do it. Whether it be high stress (the unhealthy kind), burnout, problems with your organization, or just not enough time to work on yourself, we got you.

Hola! I’m Erika, a Cuban-American Miami native, occupational therapist, and co-host of the Burnt Out to Lit Up podcast. Most days, you can find me with my Air Pods on listening to podcasts or an audio book (Audible is my JAM!). I am mostly known for my love for pineapples and everything tropical. I love serving the world by creating education and resources for healthcare professionals, including this podcast as well as Joy Energy Time. The things I am most passionate about in life are being with my special loved friends and family, traveling the world, and helping people and the environment however I can. When I’m not busy you can find me somewhere in nature or at brunch (I love a good brunch). Hello! I’m from Philadelphia, PA and moved to sunny Florida for PT school, where I fell in love with Florida living first, then with my wife. When I’m not practicing physical therapy, I am working on the podcast or planning some getaway, weekend trip, adventure – you name it. You know that question who would you want to have a beer with living or dead? Anthony Bourdain hands down. I also enjoy finance, getting the occasional workout in, and delicious food. I’m also the Co-founder and CFO of Joy Energy Time which I manage with my wife, where we create burnout prevention CEUs for healthcare providers. I’m looking forward to getting this podcast out in the world so you all can hear my hilarious jokes.
