  • Half of all healthcare providers plan to leave their job in the next 2 years
  • Patient mortality is higher when their care provider suffers from burnout

Healthcare provider burnout. It is the silent, disastrous, and non-quantifiable crisis in the healthcare industry. It affects provider mental and physical well-being, business effectiveness and bottom line, patient health and outcomes, and more. It is the single biggest problem facing our industry today. And it doesn’t have to be this way.

At Joy Energy Time, we aim to tackle this problem head on through education,  CEUs, fostering a community of like minded professionals, and holding live events to spread our message and meet HCPs who feel the same way we do, and want to do something about it.

The founders of JET, Erika and Mike, have experienced burnout first hand and are dedicated to helping prevent or reduce it in others.

The Story That Started it All

In the beginning of Erika’s career she reached a burnout breakdown. It was 2PM on a Wednesday. Feeling overwhelmed as she normally did, a co-worker asked “Are you ok?” She wasn’t. She felt hopeless, helpless, and exhausted.

Erika found herself in a work setting rife with dysfunction, unpredictability, and stress. This kind of work environment is all too common in the healthcare industry. After unsuccessfully attempting to advocate for a healthy work environment, she moved from normal workplace stress to something much darker. She dreaded Sunday nights. The thought of work made her heart race. Her quality of care began to degrade.

She started going to a therapist, was prescribed anxiety medication, tried relaxation and mindfulness techniques. Those superficial strategies only masked the real problem.

The proper resources to help didn't exist.

Extrinsic factors carry as much weight as intrinsic, but it wasn’t just the job, at least not entirely. It was Erika as well. Intrinsic factors she’d never developed that can help you cope and be more resilient to these kind of stressors. It’s not something you learn in school.

Following her burnout episode, Erika started to piece together ways of building resources to combat burnout. She analyzed evidence based research, models from Occupational Therapy, every blog post and article she could find. She spoke with  other healthcare providers who’ve had the same experience with burnout and realized she wasn’t alone.

No one has to deal with burnout alone. Let us help.

All of our content is evidence based from statistical research on burnout, and interviews from successful healthcare providers who have beaten it.
